On Friday June 28th at 3pm Local Option will hold a commemorative celebration for legendary American television direct response advertisement salesmen Billy Mays.  To honor Mays’ contribution to the popularity of the direct sales industry, Local Option will be tapping 31 rare and highly sought after beers from around the world including highly sought after releases from Struise (Belgium), Bayerischer Bahnhof (Germany), Prairie Artisan Ales (Oklahoma), and Local Option Bierwerker (Crook County).  Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to drink Boulevard’s highly acclaimed Saison Brett 2012 and 2013 side by side.  Billy Mays infomercials and dubbs by Jaboody will be featured during the event.

Participants will also be able to enter the athletic component of the Hipster Olympics beginning at 10pm.  There will be three events in the Feats of Strength and Excellence: The Goblet Balance, Die Stacking and Death Push Up.  The sole survivor of these rigorous physical endeavors will win a fully assembled three speed Bridgeport Beach Cruiser with white wall tires and handle bar gear shifters.  Ties will be broken by a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout wet t-shirt contest.

KVELERTAK’s sophomore effort Meir was released on March 26th via Roadrunner Records. The follow up to the bands 2011 self-titled debut was once again produced by CONVERGE’s Kurt Ballou and features artwork from John Dyer Baizley (BARONESS, BLACK TUSK, DARKEST HOUR, PIG DESTROYER, SKELETONWITCH). The Stavanger Norway based rockers’ music has been described by Pitchfork as having “monolithic walls of adrenal-gland-strangling sound” while Metal Hammer UK and Kerrang! called KVELERTAK “the most exciting new band on the planet”. Furthermore in 2011 KVELERTAK was iTunes Metal Breakthrough Artist Of The Year while Norwegian rock authority Asbjørn Slettemark called KVELERTAK “the best Norwegian debut of all time.” An official music video for the track “Månelyst” can be viewed below.

LOCAL OPTION has been rated among the top 30 beer bars in the world on Ratebeer since 2011 while LOCAL OPTION BIERWERKER has brewed over ten beers that have been well-received and served at highly acclaimed beer establishments in twenty states. The two beers that will be on tap for the KVELERTAK show – “Dampf Loc” and “Voku Hila” – are inspired by German brewing tradition with attention to balance and delicate flavors. “Dampf Loc” is an all-barley warm fermented ale inspired by Dampfbier originally crafted by medieval peasant inhabitants of southeast Bavaria characterized by a mild hop profile, medium body with pleasant effervescence and a clear, rich, orange hue. “Voku Hila” Maibock is golden in color with a large, creamy, persistent white head; aromatically driven by robust toast and bread notes derived from continental European pale malts with moderate spice from noble German hops.
